Heavyweight rivalry shows new signs of life

Tyson Fury could finally face Anthony Joshua in late summer 2026, according to Frank Warren.
The long-discussed bout still depends on both camps agreeing contractual terms.
Joshua has chased a showdown with the self-styled Gypsy King for most of his career.
Fury cooled expectations earlier this year by announcing his retirement from boxing.

Retirement followed frustration after Usyk losses

Fury stepped away after back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.
The 37-year-old confirmed his decision through a video posted on Instagram.
“I’m going to make this short and sweet,” Fury said in the clip.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing, it’s been a blast,” he added.
He said he loved every minute of his career before signing off emotionally.

Fury ended the video with a cryptic message.
“Dick Turpin wore a mask,” he said, hinting at frustration with recent judging.
Judges handed him a unanimous decision loss after 12 punishing rounds against Usyk.
The defeat came just days before Christmas and clearly left a lasting mark.

Promoter hints at a possible comeback fight

Despite earlier statements, momentum now appears to be building again.
Warren confirmed ongoing discussions during an interview with Sky Sports News.
“There have been talks, but nothing is signed,” Warren explained.
He said Fury remains open to returning under the right conditions.

Warren sounded optimistic about the direction of negotiations.
“I think things are moving the right way,” he said.
He expects clarity soon on what happens next.
“I do believe this fight will happen,” Warren added.
