Deontay Wilder Targets Derek Chisora as Potential Warm-Up Fight After Heated Face-Off

Deontay Wilder has said he would welcome a fight with veteran heavyweight Derek Chisora after the pair were involved in a tense face-off during a recent boxing event in Dubai.

Wilder, who has lost four of his last six bouts and is preparing for a possible title challenge against Oleksandr Usyk in 2026, suggested Chisora could serve as a warm-up opponent. The two came face to face at the IBA Men’s Elite World Championships, where a light-hearted exchange escalated as Chisora grabbed Wilder before security intervened.

“That might be my warm-up fight,” Wilder said. “We were supposed to fight years ago but it never happened. This could be the right time.”

The 40-year-old American said the bout would settle unfinished business after earlier plans collapsed due to legal issues that prevented him from travelling.

Wilder also commented on the upcoming Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul fight, warning that an upset loss for Joshua could seriously damage the former champion’s legacy, noting that fans often remember fighters for how their careers end rather than their past achievements.
