Jack Della Maddalena has accepted a callout as he plans his return to title contention.
He lost the welterweight title to Islam Makhachev at UFC 322 last November.
The defeat ended his first reign after five dominant rounds by the Russian champion.
Della Maddalena has now agreed to face rising contender Carlos Prates.
Prates gained attention with four straight wins before losing to Ian Machado Garry.
He returned to form by knocking out Leon Edwards on the same card.
Prates called for a contender bout, which Della Maddalena publicly accepted.
Della Maddalena said the fight should be five rounds and predicted a finish.
Other contenders include Michael Morales and Machado Garry, who both seek title shots.
