Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has not ruled out a return to mixed martial arts in the future.

Weidman once stood at the top of the middleweight division. His two victories over Anderson Silva, although unusual, cemented his status. He defended the championship successfully several times afterward, proving his dominance in the sport.

Now, fans and analysts speculate on Weidman’s next move. Rumors include a boxing match against Silva or a run in the GFL if the league restarts.

Chris Weidman discusses his MMA future

In a recent interview, Weidman spoke openly about returning to the cage.

“I can’t see MMA happening outside the UFC right now,” he told MMA Fighting. “I don’t know if I could earn the kind of money needed to put my body through that again. It would have to be the right fighter, someone I have history with, like Luke Rockhold.”

He added, “The opportunity would need to offer really good money. I don’t think MMA offers that at this moment.”

Boxing may offer better opportunities

Weidman sees more lucrative opportunities in boxing. “Boxing probably delivers better purses,” he said. “MMA could work if the right call comes with the right money and opponent. I love competing, I train constantly, and I believe I’m still very good. Why not?”

Weidman’s comments suggest he keeps the door open for a high-profile return. Fans continue to watch closely for his next move.
