Sean O’Malley concedes McGregor-level fame was an unrealistic UFC ambition

Sean O’Malley has admitted he was “delusional” to believe he could surpass Conor McGregor’s stardom in the UFC.
The former bantamweight champion returns at UFC 324 after back-to-back title fight losses, facing Song Yadong while ranked No. 3.
O’Malley said his early ambition to be bigger than McGregor underestimated the scale of the Irishman’s global appeal.
He still believes he can become the UFC’s biggest active star, even if McGregor’s level is unreachable.
O’Malley likened his career to a rebound moment, saying this fight will determine whether he rises again.
His bout was elevated to co-main event after Kayla Harrison withdrew with injury.
