Manny Pacquiao transformed his career by accepting a $40,000 late-notice fight in 2001. After early world title success and setbacks, he was largely unknown in the US. When Lehlo Ledwaba needed a replacement opponent in Las Vegas, Pacquiao seized the chance. Fighting on the undercard of Oscar De La Hoya at the MGM Grand, he stopped Ledwaba in six rounds. The upset instantly elevated Pacquiao to global recognition. Now regarded as one of boxing’s greatest, the 47-year-old remains active. His team says Pacquiao is targeting major fights in 2026, driven by legacy, prizefighting, and inspiration from his son Jimuel.
