UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev has shared his thoughts on the upcoming welterweight title fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev, set for UFC 322 on November 15.
Chimaev, who previously competed at 170lbs before moving up and capturing the middleweight belt from Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319, believes Makhachev’s wrestling will make the difference.
“I think Islam will win. He’ll use his wrestling more in this fight,” Chimaev said on social media, while acknowledging both fighters’ skill.
Della Maddalena has expressed interest in facing Chimaev in the future, but a bout between Chimaev and Makhachev appears unlikely due to their long-standing friendship and training ties.
