Blachowicz Says His Power Forced Jones Up To Heavyweight
Jan Blachowicz believes he pushed Jon Jones out of the light heavyweight division. He thinks Jones left because he feared a real threat. Jones beat Dominick Reyes in February 2020 and ended his title run soon after. He said he wanted a second divisional title and began preparing for heavyweight. He finally debuted in the division in 2023. Blachowicz does not accept that story and offers a different reason.
Polish Power Targeted Jones Before His Exit
Blachowicz returns at UFC 323 on Saturday to face Bogdan Guskov. He aims to climb back to the top of the 205-pound class. He held the belt after he knocked out Reyes in 2020. He disliked fighting for a vacant title and wanted Jones instead. He pushed for that fight and even confronted Jones cageside after he stopped Corey Anderson. The match never happened. Jones then confirmed his move to heavyweight. Blachowicz later said on Submission Radio that he scared Jones away.
Blachowicz Says Jones Avoided A Loss Against Him
“You saw what I did with Dominick,” Blachowicz said. He claimed Jones escaped to avoid defeat. He argued Jones feared his power and moved to heavyweight. “He escaped from the legendary Polish power,” Blachowicz added. He insisted Jones wanted distance from that danger.
Jones Eyes A Return In 2026 Despite Pushback
As Blachowicz fights for relevance at UFC 323, Jones plans a return in 2026. He wants Alex Pereira at the planned UFC White House event on June 14. Dana White rejects that idea and calls Jones unreliable for such a major card. Jones does not stop pushing for his place on the event. He has shown interest since President Donald Trump announced plans for fights on the White House lawn earlier this year.
