UFC veteran Michael Chandler remains confident he will face Conor McGregor, potentially at next year’s UFC White House event.
For years, Chandler has chased a fight with McGregor. The matchup has nearly happened several times but never came together. Now, Dana White’s hints at McGregor’s return could reopen the door.
Next summer, UFC plans a major event at the White House. Chandler believes this stage offers the perfect opportunity to finally square off with the Irish star.
White House fight makes perfect sense
“I think we’re closer now than ever before,” Chandler told MMA Fighting about McGregor’s potential comeback. “I’ve always said don’t bet on him returning, but now things have changed.”
Chandler added, “In my heart, I think I’m fighting Conor McGregor at the White House. It makes sense for many reasons.”
Respect and unfinished business fuel Chandler
“First and foremost, I want the White House fight,” Chandler said. “If it’s Conor, that would be amazing. We have unfinished business. I respect him, he respects me, but there’s still work to do.”
Chandler noted McGregor’s own interest. “He put out that A.I. image of us together. He called me out on Twitter and said we have unfinished business, and that’s true,” Chandler said.
The UFC White House event could finally deliver one of MMA’s most anticipated matchups.
