Boxing Star Taken into Custody
Former three-weight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested in Miami on Wednesday, nearly two weeks after authorities issued an arrest warrant charging him with battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping. Miami Gardens police worked with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in a multi-county surveillance operation that located Davis in the Miami Design District, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Davis was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 10 p.m., with bail set at $16,000.
Alleged Incident at Miami Strip Club
The charges stem from an alleged incident on October 27 at a Miami Gardens strip club. According to police, Davis confronted his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, who was working as a VIP cocktail server. Police say he allegedly took her to a back room, attacked and restrained her, grabbed her by the hair and throat, and warned, “You think I would not find you,” before escorting her to the parking lot and releasing her.
Rossel met Davis in 2022, and the couple dated briefly in 2025. She has since filed both a police report and a civil lawsuit against the boxer. Her attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, stated the arrest aligns with the civil complaint, confirming that the authorities found sufficient grounds for the warrant.
Legal History and Fight Plans
At the time of the alleged incident, Davis had been training for a high-profile fight against Jake Paul in October, which he was later removed from after the lawsuit was filed and replaced by Anthony Joshua. Davis last competed in March, drawing with Lamont Roach Jr.
Davis has a history of legal troubles, including previous domestic violence allegations and a 2023 probation and house arrest sentence for a hit-and-run in Baltimore. How this new arrest in Florida could affect his probation status in Maryland remains uncertain.
