Gaethje Says Pay Cut Sparked Title-or-Retire Stance

Justin Gaethje says disappointment over his last fight earnings pushed him toward a title-or-retire mindset.
The lightweight contender faces Paddy Pimblett for the interim belt at UFC 324.

Gaethje waited for a title opportunity after learning champion Ilia Topuria would be inactive.
He warned he might retire without a shot at UFC gold.

The stance followed his win over Rafael Fiziev, taken on short notice.
Despite the performance, Gaethje revealed he earned less than in his previous bout.

He said that was the first pay drop of his career and unacceptable.
Gaethje believes big fights and title contention must define his final years.

At 37, he admits the end is approaching.
His goal is clear: beat Pimblett, challenge Topuria, then walk away as champion.
