Prior Lake, Minnesota — Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson is ready to make his professional mixed martial arts debut at LFA 217, taking place at Mystic Lake Casino. The 25-year-old heavyweight will meet Braden Peterson, who holds a 1-0 record, in a matchup that has drawn considerable interest from fans and analysts alike. The fight will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

From Wrestling Mat to MMA Cage

Steveson’s sports career has been nothing short of extraordinary. He won freestyle wrestling gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and earned two NCAA Division I Heavyweight championships during his collegiate career. After briefly stepping into WWE and a short stint with the Buffalo Bills in 2024, Steveson has now shifted his full attention to MMA. Under the mentorship of coach Brandon Gibson and the guidance of UFC icon Jon Jones, he has been preparing for this pivotal step in his career.

Coach Expresses Strong Confidence

Brandon Gibson, who has trained alongside some of the sport’s elite fighters, including Jon Jones, is convinced of Steveson’s ability to reach the pinnacle of MMA. He highlights Steveson’s discipline, humility, and natural athleticism, stating that the young athlete has the tools to compete at the highest level in the heavyweight division.

A Promising Start

Steveson’s debut at LFA 217 marks the beginning of what could be a remarkable MMA journey. With his elite wrestling credentials and a supportive, experienced coaching team, he is poised to make an immediate impression in the professional heavyweight ranks.
