Dana White is set to launch Zuffa Boxing, but fans aren’t exactly thrilled about the inaugural fight card. While the event promises competitive matchups, many had hoped for bigger names in the debut.

Main Card Highlights

The headline fight features Callum Walsh taking on former world title contender Carlos Ocampo, a 30-year-old Mexican with a 38-3 record and 26 knockouts. Walsh, a long-term project of White and promoter Tom Loeffler, steps up in class for this bout.

The co-main event pits unbeaten Misael Rodriguez against Austin Deanda, while Julian Rodriguez faces Cain Sandoval, who enters with a perfect 17-0 record. These matchups aim to showcase rising talent, though star power remains limited.

The preliminary card includes Omar Trinidad vs Max Orlenas, Floyd Diaz vs Guillermo Gutierrez, Emiliano Cardenas vs Marcus Harris, and Robert Merriweather III vs Cesar Correa. The night kicks off with Troy Nash facing Jaycob Ramos, marking the first fight under the Zuffa Boxing banner.

Fan Reactions Mixed

Since the card was revealed, many fans have expressed disappointment over the smaller scale and lack of household names. Some social media users called the event “worse than the average PBC undercard” and joked they would need to be paid to watch.

However, the reception hasn’t been entirely negative. Some fight enthusiasts praised the card for its competitive matchups, noting that it caters to serious boxing fans rather than casual viewers. One Instagram commenter wrote: “If anybody knows boxing, this is actually [fire]. Good job @zuffaboxing I believed when everyone doubted that you guys would have good fighters and fights.”

Building for the Future

White has emphasized a long-term strategy for entering boxing, suggesting that bigger stars and higher-profile bouts will come as the promotion grows. For now, Zuffa Boxing appears focused on showcasing rising talent and putting on technically solid fights, even if it hasn’t captured mainstream excitement just yet.
