UFC CEO Dana White announced his entry into boxing through his promotional company, Zuffa Boxing.
White will help promote the “fight of the century” between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
He aims to tackle what he sees as major challenges facing the sport today.
White Reflects on Boxing’s Decline
White said big-money deals and sanctioning bodies stopped top fighters from facing each other.
He cited the era of Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard as the last time boxing thrived.
White also criticized the lack of investment in amateur boxing, especially in the United States.
He noted that televised amateur competitions disappeared, causing the sport to struggle before Zuffa intervened.
Timing Marks White’s Strategy
White believes boxing remains popular while still offering opportunities for growth and innovation.
He said, “Everything in life is about timing. My move into boxing right now is perfect.”
White plans to secure a television deal in 2026 and stage major fights to revitalize the sport.
