Dana White escalated his feud with Eddie Hearn, firing sharp words during a post-fight media session in Las Vegas.
The UFC president delivered his most exciting Zuffa Boxing event yet at the Meta Apex. Efe Ajagba stopped former world champion Charles Martin in a brutal heavyweight heavyweight clash. Afterward, White met with the media, and his simmering dispute with Hearn resurfaced.
Hearn recently called the decision to stage Jai Opetaia vs Brandon Glanton for the Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight title “cringe.” He criticized the move away from traditional sanctioning bodies. Tonight, White responded from his Las Vegas venue.
White Challenges Hearn’s Influence
Once friends, White and Hearn now trade increasingly tense words. The British promoter continues to take sly jabs at his American counterpart, known for his mastery of verbal sparring in combat sports.
White questioned Hearn’s vision in boxing. He told reporters, “I saw Eddie Hearn saying the belt is cringey. I don’t think anyone looks at him and says, ‘He’s a visionary.’ He’s been in boxing forever.”
White added, “I see him like most politicians. He’s done nothing except stay in the lane, follow the rules, and go along. He ended up part of the problem.”
White Hits Hearn’s Background
White did not hold back, taking aim at Hearn’s entry into boxing through his father, Barry Hearn. “I don’t want to smash Eddie Hearn, but he works for his dad. You know what I mean?” White said. “He’s never shown the type of vision we have.”
He continued, “We aim to change the entire sport. I understand the status quo doesn’t like it. That doesn’t mean they can’t do their thing. If your thing is as good as you think, do it. Good luck to you. I’ll do my thing, and they’ll do theirs.”
