Conor McGregor has shared a funny story about how the Paul brothers’ united front crumbled when they first met. The encounter took place during former President Donald Trump’s second inauguration, and footage of the meeting quickly went viral. While Logan and Jake Paul initially appeared aligned in their banter with McGregor, tensions erupted once the cameras stopped rolling.
A tense start at the inauguration
In January, amid years of rivalry and serious talks of a fight between McGregor and Logan Paul in India, the trio finally met while traveling to the White House. McGregor says the Paul brothers tried to maintain their usual showmanship on camera. Logan and Jake both teased the UFC star, trading playful jabs in front of their mother, Pam Stepnick, who filmed the meeting.
However, once the filming ended, the brothers turned their attention toward each other. They argued over who owned the footage, which would have been a major exclusive for whoever controlled it.
Brothers clash over footage
McGregor recalled the moment to Bloody Elbow at his Dublin pub, The Black Forge Inn. “It was fascinating because they’re doing it all on phones, right?” he said. “These are content creators, YouTube guys. I just rock up and don’t think much of it.”
He described meeting their mother as pleasant. “She had the phone, doing her thing, and we were talking. Then we got on the bus, and the two brothers start fighting over whose footage it was. Is it Logan’s or Jake’s? I found it funny. Their whole world revolves around that revenue.”
A potential fight with Logan Paul
At the time, McGregor was negotiating a major fight deal with India’s Ambani family to host a bout with Logan Paul. Although Jake is more active in the ring, Logan’s history with Dillon Danis and his weaker boxing skills made the matchup more logical.
McGregor still believes the fight could happen once he returns to the octagon and pursues a third welterweight belt. “I had a sweet deal there. These YouTuber fights will come. I’m coming back for glory, the gold belt, the triple crown. The other fights? Look at Mike Tyson, who fought Jake Paul at 58 and still looked fresh. That’s an inspiration to me,” he said.
