Colby Covington says he does not expect to face Conor McGregor at the rumored UFC White House event on June 14. Speculation about the matchup spread quickly online but was dismissed by UFC CEO Dana White, who called it false.
McGregor has not fought since suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. Despite the long layoff, he has publicly targeted the White House card for his return and is reportedly training daily for a comeback.
Covington said McGregor typically chooses favorable stylistic matchups and may prefer a striker rather than a wrestling-heavy opponent. He described himself as one of the toughest and most well-rounded fighters in the promotion but admitted McGregor may not see him as an ideal option.
While no opponent has been confirmed, McGregor has shared footage of his training camp, showing him securing submissions in sparring. With matchmaking underway, fans are waiting to learn who will welcome “Notorious” back to the Octagon.
