Jack Della Maddalena will fight Carlos Prates at UFC Perth on 2 May.
The former welterweight champion returns after losing his title to Islam Makhachev.

Della Maddalena had opened his UFC run with eight straight victories.
His defeat at Madison Square Garden ended that streak in his first defence.
He has spoken about seeking a rematch but must rebuild momentum.

The Perth event gives him a homecoming opportunity.
Prates earned the matchup after a knockout win over Leon Edwards on the same night as the title bout.
He has also secured consecutive bonus-winning finishes since his loss to Ian Machado Garry.

Other contenders had targeted Della Maddalena as a route toward a title shot.
Now Prates gets the chance to face the former champion first.

The fight will play a key role in the next welterweight title picture.
Della Maddalena needs a victory to re-enter contention.
Prates can move into the elite with a win on Australian soil.
