Manny Pacquiao believes his rematch with Floyd Mayweather will surpass their record-breaking first bout. The fight is scheduled for 19 September at the Sphere and will stream globally on Netflix.
Mayweather recently announced a return to professional boxing after nine years in retirement. The rematch news followed reports about a separate exhibition involving Mike Tyson.
Pacquiao said their 2015 meeting remains the biggest event in boxing history. He argued that worldwide streaming will expand the audience and raise the scale. He also repeated his ambition to hand Mayweather the only loss of his professional career.
The original contest generated more than $600m and set a pay-per-view record. Pacquiao wants the sequel to eclipse those numbers.
The Filipino star has remained active at elite level. In 2025 he challenged Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title and earned a majority draw.
Mayweather has not fought professionally since defeating Conor McGregor in 2017. He still expects a repeat result and said he will beat Pacquiao again.
Pacquiao dedicated the upcoming fight to Filipinos around the world and to bringing pride to his country.
