Darren Till Warns Jake Paul Ahead of Anthony Joshua Fight, Comparing It to Sparring Heavyweight Tom Aspinall

Darren Till has added his voice to the growing concern surrounding Jake Paul’s upcoming showdown with Anthony Joshua on December 19, suggesting the YouTuber-turned-boxer is stepping into extremely dangerous territory. While Paul remains confident and continues to promote the bout, few believe he stands much chance against the former unified heavyweight champion.

Speaking to Boxing Social, Till explained that even at his most competitive, he would only consider fighting Joshua for life-changing money, admitting the threat AJ poses is unlike anything Paul has ever faced. Drawing from personal experience, he compared the situation to his years training with UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, where size and power made every session brutal.

“I sparred Tom Aspinall for most of my career… and every day I dreaded it,” Till admitted. “He doesn’t punch anywhere near as hard as Anthony Joshua, and I still hated going in there.”

Till went on to call the event “a circus,” but said he’s curious to see how it unfolds. He also reflected on how his own decision to regularly train with a much larger partner ultimately affected his career, even contributing to a torn ACL that marked a turning point in his decline.

With top fighters like Till and Oleksandr Usyk expressing real worry, anticipation for one of combat sports’ most unusual matchups continues to grow—along with the debate over whether Paul is in way over his head.
