Usyk warns of danger in Joshua–Paul showdown

Usyk fears for Paul’s safety
Oleksandr Usyk wants his own fight with Jake Paul, but he worries that chance may vanish this month. He recently faced off with Paul to spark interest in a future MMA clash between them. Now Paul meets Anthony Joshua in a duel that looks wildly uneven. Usyk fears Paul may suffer serious damage if he cannot handle the Brit on December 19. Their most recent fight weights differ by 52 pounds, and Paul stands five inches shorter than Joshua.

Usyk sees a brutal mismatch
Usyk knows the risks of climbing from cruiserweight to heavyweight. He spent 24 rounds in the ring with Joshua across two intense fights. He managed to win undisputed titles twice at heavyweight despite giving up size. Paul does not possess the same pedigree or experience. Usyk once dominated cruiserweight and then claimed heavyweight gold as a smaller man. Paul arrives without that history.

Usyk shared his concern with Boxing Scene. He said Joshua could end Paul’s career if he chose to push the fight to extremes. He praised Joshua’s Olympic background and dismissed Paul’s mix of athletic skill and showmanship. Usyk compared Joshua to a luxury car and Paul to a modest vehicle. He said he would pray for Paul because he still wants that MMA fight in the octagon.

Paul’s limited background worries Usyk
Jake Paul entered professional boxing in 2020 with only one white-collar bout behind him. By then, Joshua had already become a two-time unified world champion. Joshua also owned an Olympic gold medal before he turned professional. Usyk believes that difference tells the whole story and raises serious concerns for Paul’s safety.
