O’Malley explains his doubts about the matchup
Sean O’Malley explains why he can’t see the UFC booking a fight between Ilia Topuria and Arman Tsarukyan. He comments on the current state of the lightweight division and evaluates the champion’s position.
Topuria dominates the lightweight landscape
Ilia Topuria stands as one of the biggest names in combat sports. He knocks out Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. He also holds the UFC lightweight title. Many contenders now wait for their chance at the belt.
New contenders rise in the division
Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje rank among the top challengers. Arman Tsarukyan also adds his name to the list. He delivers a dominant win over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar. Topuria shows little interest in facing Arman, or at least it appears that way.
O’Malley questions the UFC’s intentions
Sean O’Malley shares his thoughts on a possible showdown between Topuria and Tsarukyan in a recent video.
O’Malley sees real danger for Topuria
“Arman is no joke,” O’Malley says in his video. “Arman against Ilia creates a fascinating matchup. I do not think the UFC will book it because the promotion loves Ilia as champion. He acts as a great champion, and I don’t think they want Arman to take the belt. He has a real chance to beat Ilia. I can’t believe I said that. I think Ilia might knock him out, but if anyone at 155 can beat Ilia, it’s Arman.”
