Former UFC star Darren Till criticized Ian Machado Garry after his backstage altercation with Khamzat Chimaev.
Garry had recently secured a strong win against Belal Muhammad in the co-main event at UFC Qatar. Following the fight, he called out Islam Makhachev, which led to a brief confrontation with Chimaev backstage. At first, the incident appeared harmless, but tensions quickly grew. Both fighters shared their perspectives, with Garry openly criticizing Chimaev and the way the situation developed.
Darren Till reacts strongly
Darren Till, a close friend of Chimaev, expressed his frustration with Garry in a recent tweet. He praised Garry’s fighting skills but strongly questioned his character. Till wrote that Garry seemed “fake beyond all beliefs” and hard to like. He added that he tried to convince himself to appreciate Garry, but found it impossible.
Till highlighted the contrast between Garry and Chimaev, saying that Garry appeared scared during their interaction. He compared Chimaev to himself, noting that their similar personalities made them best friends.
A fighter with talent but a questionable attitude
Till did not hold back in criticizing Garry’s personality. He described Garry as unlikeable and fake, recalling past incidents in gyms where Garry clashed with others. He mentioned Garry’s harsh comments about other fighters and suggested that Garry’s attitude overshadowed his skill. Till concluded that while Garry remains a talented fighter, his behavior makes it difficult for others to respect him fully.
