Morales Opens Up About Fight-Fixing Attempt
Veteran UFC competitor Vince Morales, who has competed in 11 UFC fights, revealed that he was once approached with a $70,000 offer to intentionally lose a match. Morales shared on social media that he could not accept the proposal, stating, “I’ve been approached about doing it … it’s not something I could live with … 70k.” He clarified that the incident took place early in his UFC career, during the first week of fight week at the UFC Apex amid the COVID era.

Growing Scrutiny in MMA
The admission comes as concerns mount over attempts to manipulate fight results in mixed martial arts. Several other fighters have reported being solicited to compromise their matches, highlighting vulnerabilities tied to financial pressures and betting activity. Journalist Ariel Helwani noted that numerous individuals have either encountered such offers themselves or are aware of peers who have been targeted in similar ways.

Implications for the UFC and Oversight Measures
Morales’s disclosure raises questions about fighter protections and the integrity of competitions within the UFC. By refusing the offer and speaking publicly, Morales may prompt the organization and athletic commissions to re-examine monitoring and compliance processes. While no formal investigations have been confirmed, the revelation underscores the importance of vigilance against potential fight-fixing within professional MMA.
