Paddy Pimblett vows to ‘bring Ilia Topuria crashing back down’ amid UFC title fight rumors

Speculation is growing that Paddy Pimblett could face Ilia Topuria for the UFC lightweight title in early 2026, despite UFC president Dana White previously dismissing the idea.

Topuria captured the lightweight belt earlier this year with a knockout of Charles Oliveira, and although White called their post-fight face-off “unscripted,” reports suggest the matchup could headline the UFC’s first event under its new Paramount deal.

Pimblett, who has a long-running feud with the Spanish champion, believes he would end Topuria’s hype. “I’d absolutely smash his face in,” Pimblett said. “People put him on a pedestal like he’s amazing, but I’ll bring him crashing back down to earth in a big way.”

Topuria has also expressed interest in the fight, though he has hinted at a future clash with Islam Makhachev. The former champion, however, criticized the rumored bout, calling Pimblett “not a real challenge.”

Many fans argue that contenders such as Arman Tsarukyan or Justin Gaethje are more deserving of the next title shot, with Gaethje warning he’ll retire if passed over again.
