Police launched an investigation after 21-year-old Jesus Ivan Mercado Cabrera was discovered dead on a roadside.
Authorities found his body wrapped in a blanket and tape in a desert near the Sonora–Baja California border.
Mercado Cabrera had been reported missing before a suspicious package led police to identify him via tattoos.
Although investigators found no visible injuries, police suspect foul play in his death, local media reported.

Relatives confirmed Mercado Cabrera’s identity and began preparations for a Christian and dignified burial.
Supporters expressed grief on social media, calling him a “fierce warrior” and “young king.”
Known as ‘Rafaguita,’ the Nogales native recently moved to San Luis Rio Colorado to advance his boxing career.
Despite a professional record of seven wins, nine losses, and one draw, many had high hopes for his future.
