India sent a 20-member squad to the inaugural World Boxing event under the new 2023 governing body. The team won three medals, marking a breakthrough on the international stage. Nupur guaranteed the first medal for India in Liverpool, becoming a trailblazer for her country.

“I won my medal before the others did. I felt proud representing India,” Nupur told ANI after arriving in Delhi. Her achievement energized the team, later followed by gold medals for Jaismine and Minakshi Hooda.

Heart-Stopping Final Bout

Nupur faced Poland’s Agata Kaczmarska in the final, losing narrowly 2-3. Her height and reach advantage could not stop Kaczmarska’s sharp body shots and relentless aggression. The decisive uppercut in the final round shifted momentum decisively. Exhausted after three rounds, Nupur settled for silver in her first World Championships final.

Silver Sparks Ambition for Gold

Nupur now aims for the World Cup in November. “After silver at the World Championships, I will fight for gold in the World Cup,” she declared confidently. She continues training with determination, hoping to bring more international glory to India.
